test pipe install

OK, so i go to put on the test pipe yesterday and heres how it went. I pulled the car up onto a couple of those little ramps and climbed under there to pull off the bolts. Tried a ratchet first with a break bar, could only get one of the 4 bolts off. Next came an impact gun, that wouldnt break them loose either, tried some lube hoping to break the rust off. After f'ing with it for about an hour, we decided to break out the cutting torch and melt those little bastards off. After that, the cat came out nice and the test pipe went in fine. Just wanted to share the bit of trouble i had with my install, anyone else have any issues getting bolts off? BTW, my car is only about 2 months old.

Damn, I wonder what they used to torque the bolts with? Yer car is fairly new too. But I also had the same prob with my downpipe. Simple ratchet wouldn't work, had to get a breaker bar.

Hmmmm.... Metal heating, cooling, heating cooling..... Probably the reason why they are so tight. As long as you got em off though.

Life wouldn't be as fun if everything was easy

I had to go to a friend's garage and put the car on a lift to get enough leverage to break those bolt. The right side front was a *****.

I'll be changing mine this weekend, not looking forward to breaking those sum *****es loose, but I weigh 290lbs so I have some leverage to work with

Regardless of your weight or how swoll you are, there's so little room that it makes it tough to get any real good leverage on those bastard bolts.

My girl's stepdad has a pit in his garage and I was able to stand under my car, so I was able to pop them loose using a 2 foot pipe. And I'm a whopping 145 pounds.

when i installed my pipe i my breaker bar broke...the nipple thingy that the socket goes on to twisted and finally snapped off...so i ended up using a regular ratchet with a bar that slid over the ratchets handle and with a little umph they finally broke loose...i just couldn't beleive how rusty the bolts were

the testpipe has a straight through flow of air and it wouldn't restrict it unlike the cat it restricts it from flowing through..... it gives you a few horses depending on the mods you did on your car.... rrm site i think they wanted you to keep your cat for inspection purposes and they said that because without the cat you'r car is an environmental hazard.....I hope this would help you
