New Lip!

So finally got my accolade lip and i wanted to know what is the best way of installing the lip w/o going to a body man. What are the best bolts or clips to keep it in place.

usually you do double sided tape and screws on the bottom and in the wheel well. to get it painted a body shop will take it off... so. test fit it to drill out all the screw holes... then let them to the final install.

I already got it painted. My dad works for a body shop. He told me if i wanted painted for free i had to give it to him right away. So it is all painted. Hopefully i don't f-up on it. Thats why i want to know what has worked for everyone here.

ahh, ic.

from what I know (havnt installed a lip personally) but like I said. Double sided tape along top edge... and you screw up into the bumper on the bottom and in the wheel well to hold it.

side note. It is smart to install parts (especially fiberglass) before painting so you can drill holes and alter it in any way needed to make it fit. If you did this then I missunderstood.

Tip. cover any possible contact surface with painters tape so you wont damage paint during install. Kinda common sense but I myself forgot to do so when I mounted my bumper = scratches on fender.

^X2 on the use of the tape!

1. Tape off your contact edges with the blue painter's tape
2. Test fit
3. Have someone hold it or rig it to stay in place
4. Stand back and see if it looks alright
5. If good, brace and drill holes
6. Take off, remove painter's tape, and lay 3M double-sided tape along the seams
7. Have a friend help you attach it as previously mounted
8. Affix screws
9 Enjoy!!!

To maintain the look, you "could" opt for going to the dealership and ask for those plastic ones they use on the side skirts? But my shop just used some coated screws with a larger washer-like backer, in order not to cause cracking or sink in the FG to deeply. Just use something that won't rust!

stainless or plastic clips for sure. Stainless self tapping screws would work. I would even opt for rivets. Clips is also another way to go.

I got some coated screws from autozone to install the side skirts on my lancer. they come in an assorted box. I would not use self tapping screws. they also sell those little platic push clippy screw like things. used some of those for the bumpers. just make sure to get it on nice and tight. You dont want that think flying off like what happend to that one guy on here.
