im in school today reading import tuner. and i read the article where the kid had the is300 and molded all his own carbon fiber parts. well im wondering about doing this my self just for something new to try. i have never worked with fiberglass or anything like that but i know a guy who has. i was wondeirng if anyone knows where i can buy carbon fiber sheets if thats even what i need. so all in all im asking what to buy and where nad how should i go about doing this. if anyone can help iw oudl apprecaite it. its going to be a long boaring winter and i have a new heated garage. so i need something to do... thanks brock

 

I also would like to know where i could by sheets of CF.. I have a 30,000 laser that is like a printer but instead of printing it cuts ****... So i could make custom caron fiber badges or logos.. eyelids.. i could make a lot of ****. thanks

 

You'll want to buy the sheets pre-impregnated with resin, as that will be the easiest to start working with. Ask Rock at Carbontrix (RRM) to see if he can help you out with a supplier.

Pre-preg needs to be kept at near freezing temps to inhibit the catalyst of the resin. This is a bad idea unless you are going to be working with the CF immediately. You're better off practicing in fiber glass then using CF and hand wetting the cloth.

I have seen molds made out of several different things....foam, sculpted by hand, clay, and hobby plastic. Basically people just used saran wrap or plastic , to keep the CF from sticking to the mold. I am sure there are other ways.......wraping a piece does suck!!!!
