Thumbs up Easy Stone Chip Repair

Ok, if your like most Lancer owners, you proberly have received your fair share of stone chips on your hood, bumper and fenders due to Mitsu's hard paint. How many of you have dealt with this problem without having to repaint it completely and if so what was your methods or techniques ?

I'am going to post my personel accepted method which doesn't cost much money and can be done relatively easy with professional results that your little 11 year old kid brother or sister can help you with.

1. First you will need to get some touch up paint for your car, a bottle of rubbing alchool, a plastic bondo spreader and some tighly woven cotten sheets like old bed sheets, pillow cases or cotton dress shirt.

2. Wash and dry your car

3. Clean all stone chipped area with a cotton swab(Q-Tip) dipped in alchool

4. Have you little brother or sister apply the touch-up paint to the affected areas, you go have a smoke or a beer or something:

5. Wrap a smooth, clean, tightly woven cotton cloth around the bondo spreader. Apply rubbing alchool to dampen the flat surface of the cloth/spreader. Rub the closth/spreader over the "blob" for 5-10 seconds allowing the alchool to quickly penetrate and begin smoothing the "blob" of excess paint. Once the touch-up paint blob begins to wear off, begin rubbing lighter until the excess paint is gone and paint is left inside the chip/scratch. Lightly hand-buff to remove any excess residue with a clean cloth.

6. After doing all the affected areas, use a quality polishing compound to blend in all the the touch-up points, it will be faster if you just do the whole area with a orbital buffer and rewax.

Please post your results if you have tried it.

Thumbs up

Of course I did, my alchool method actually works better than the expensive Langkra solvent. This is the method BMW and Audi enthuasist use to fix their cars.
