Question life of shocks???

how do aftermarket springs, (progress, eibach), effect the life span of your shocks and struts?? do they kill them? or do they still last relatively long? how long do shocks and struts normally last? i stopped by my dealer and a guy told me that if i put springs on it would void the shocks and struts...ok, fine... but he said there would be no problem because those will last a really long time..longer than my car is under warranty...my car is under warranty for 60,000 miles. i read a post that someone stated they would need to replace there stock stuts due to their springs in 5 months or less....i dont think ill be anywhere near 60,000 miles in 5 months.

i also have the ground control coil over kit with 2 - 2-1/2" drop and i haven't had any problems..... i don't think will cover blown shocks/struts if you have your car lowered, so even if they do blow while you still have your warranty you'll have to shell out the $$$ for new ones anyway. i'm going to probably get the koni's from ILP once they finish them, so i'm not worried about the stock shocks/struts.

i think it has more to do with the way u drive and how rough the roads are that u drive on u could lower your car 3in and baby it and your shocks would last for just as long as normal or u could lower your car 1.5in and beat the sh*t out of it and blow your shocks really fast

Yeah 02izzel, you were probably referring to me as far as replacing my stock shocks after about 4 - 5 months of use. My roads out here are really wavy and there is no way to avoid that being that my house is at the other end. I hit each and every bump atleast 10 times a day. So as far as my shocks holding up that well, can't say they will. I still have my clicking noise and for the most part I have got used to it. Hopefully after purchasing a new pair of shocks within the near future I can get all problems solved.
