Question spring cutting???????

i have heard about people cutting two coiles off of the srpings on the lancer. Is this good, bad, or just like buying smaller springs. I hear that handling is a little better. is this a good alternative until i can get the money saved up to buy new ones or should i leave it alone?

just to save argument, i am somewhat well minded and have a little common sense as in i would not do this my self but have it done.

It's bad, don't do it. Yes you'll lower the car, but the handling and the ride will be awful. Your struts will be shot pretty quick too. Spend like $200-250 and get real lowering springs. Your gonna prolly pay close to that to have someone cut them anyways.

I agree with "B", don't do it. Buy springs.

Agree with what b_tapper said. My friend did that to her car and ended up can't control it during hard corner. She totaled her Civic SI beacuse of that. Don't do it, buy some real springs

It can and will potentially screw up your wheels/tires as well if you screw up your camber. Tires will ride on their sides and bald funny. No good. Cutting your springs is only an alternative if you're looking to decimate your suspension.

When it sounds so good that it could save you hundreds of dollars and only requires um...irrepairable damage...it's prolly too good to be true.

I hear exhausts sound good if you jab holes into your muffler with a screwdriver.

don't forget about reducing the weight by chipping off the paint

for reducing weight everyone knows to take glass out and put saran wrap in and have rims molded in light weight plastic. then you can always remove the exhaust, hood, and trunk lid
