HELP!! - Spring Install
it will void the warranty on any of your suspension components. By putting on lowering springs it wont automatically void the warranty, but if you come in with a failed shock/strut they will definitely blame the springs. Any other suspension failure will most likely be blamed on the springs whether it was the cause or not.
Something I learned about taking the front struts on the lancer on the 4th of july was losen that 17mm nut before you compress the strut. with 2 of the upper 3 screws installed and semi tight and spring totally uncompressed the assembly will not rotate like it was with it out of the car. You dont have to take the nut totally off but you can, these springs do not have a lot of tension on them compared to some other cars. So its not going to shoot down at you from the mount point. Just something for the future and anyone else who might be thinking about doing the spring install.
As I understand it, your warranty would be mostly intact if you installed the springs (or anything else). The only things that wouldn't be covered would be any failures that were a direct result of the aftermarket product you installed--in this case, the springs.
So, for example, if something in your engine's defective and still covered under warranty, it wouldn't even matter that you installed springs. The failure wouldn't be related to the springs, therefore, it's still covered under warranty.
If Mitsubishi wants to deny warranty coverage on anything, they'd have to be able to prove it happened as a result of whatever aftermarket bits you've installed on the car. I wouldn't worry too much about springs causing too much fail, TBH.

like i said...
also yes the magnuson moss warranty act states that blah blah blah...
to be honest if the dealership wants to blame your springs on something related to the suspension failing they can and will.
it will be up to you to talk with the dealer and explain to them why you feel the spring did not cause the failure, this will be on your time and your dime.
then you will have to get MMNA involved...after all that the odds are MMNA will side with the dealership, do u blame them ? you cant expect a manufacture to hold their warranty with the use of aftermarket parts, especially those not installed by a certified mechanic or dealership.
Most importantly dont worry about anything failing, there have been very little if any complaints about the OEM suspension components failing, the only thing "failing" is the OE shock/strut assembly which will degrade over time regardless of having springs or not, the use of aftermarket springs only accelerates and causes premature wear.
the use of the eibach pro-kit/tanabe springs will allow the shock/strut assembly to last for about as long as they are designed to, going any lower than 1.1-1.2" will cause them to degrade fast.

install it, the warranty is not voided. if you do it on your own pretty much every mod will void the warranty
