08 Lancer Pulling to the left?
08 Lancer Pulling to the left?
There used to be a giant thread on here rampant with '08 Lancer owners that had a serious "pull to the left" issue straight from the factory that I don't see any more - and I was one of those owners. Does any one still have that issue?
If so, read on:
My 08 GTS pulled from day 1 since I bought it. I took it back to a Mitsu dealer that looked at it and essentially said "you're crazy, nothing's wrong with your car." I had a different company look at it too, essentially saying the same thing (but I wasn't all that impressed with them any way). I went to a shop here in the Fort Worth area called Pro Tuning Performance who has some of the best alignment equipment in the business (they have a Hunter Engineering laser alignment machine - quite impressive) and this is what I found:
First off keep in mind: this car has never seen an accident, or even a big pothole or a curb, and as I said it did this since I drove it off the lot with 12 miles on it...
Left Front
Camber: within spec
Caster: within spec
Toe: -3/32" (spec 0 to 1/16)
Left Rear
Camber: within spec
Toe: -1/8" (spec 1/32 to 3/32)
Right Front
Camber: -.9 degrees (spec -.5 to .5)
Caster: within spec
Toe: within spec
Right rear
Camber: within spec
Toe: -1/16" (spec 1/32 to 3/32")
The trick with the camber is to replace the stock crash bolts with Eibach brand that are originally designed for an EVO (they still fit) to be able to adjust camber. Since stock crash bolts do not allow these, most alignment places probably let this deficiency go since they don't replace them.
After 45 minutes of replacing the bolts and aligning, my left pull is absolutely 100% gone.
Pro Tuning Performance, if you're local to the DFW area, is who I recommend do this for you. If you're not, only use a place that has laser alignment. Those machines are no joke.
Hope this can help you guys...

They were in the Troubleshooting forum and got un-stickied, presumably from being up for so long.

I had the opposite problem--mine pulled to the right. I only really noticed it when I was really, really tired. As soon as I move somewhere with better roads, I'm going to try getting an alignment done and see if that fixes the issue. I'm afraid I'll re-bork the alignment with all the potholes around here.

Mine did too, took it to Mitsubishi to have it looked at multiple times and every time they found nothing wrong so I took it to conrads and they measured the tread depth on the tires and found it was significantly lower on the front left tire. Rotated them and haven't had a problem since.
