Question Clutch stiffness

Is there anyway to stiffen up the clutch petal on the 4G94?

I have an 04 ES and I know that is is slightly different from the 03 OZ/ES, so i've included a pic.

Any help is appreciated. I want to try to get better engagement without changing the whole clutch out. Not enough HP to justify that change yet.

That is the same tranny and clutch as in the OZ's... there is no difference in those parts. The only way to stiffen that clutch up is with a stiffer pressure plate.

You know I have driven Ryans (TSi Turbo Kit Mans) car a few times and he has a real early model '02 OZ and his clutch is stiff as hell, he has 3 times the miles I do and turbo for at least 10,000 miles and his **** still grabs harder than mine. The other guy that lives out here with the black RRM turbo car noticed the same thing. I dont know just an observation.

May just be that their throwout is a little tighter thus harder to move when disengaging. The part numbers are all the same... but maybe mitsu did a cost reduction and dropped some force on the pressure plate without changing the part number. They've done that before with various bolt grades.

Looking at it closer i think you're right hobie... it seems the slave cylinder is on the outside of the tranny rather than the inside. That is different than what i've seen. Definately something to look into!

That was the only thing I saw when I looked at the pic. "That's not like mine!"

I can't see the tranny code on there, but if you can provide me with the number on the housing I can see if it's still under the same code or not.
