What is it about these Motors that dont respond well to Mods? You have Honda motors (d16 or 15) that will gain 8-10hp on an intake or headers, and 10-15 on an exhaust.... wtf Mitsu.

If I'm not mistaken, the 4g94 is the supped up version of the 4g93. The engine is at its performances limit from the factory. That's why you don't get much out of bolt-on or any other mods. Mitsu took the Mirage engine, made it perform better and now you're left with an engine that performs well but that can't go any further.

Here's another fact. D16, D15, Bxx are largely popular engines. There's a gazillion companies making part for those engines so the competition is alot stiffer. If they want to sell their products, they have to invest more in R&D to get the most hp out of everything they produce. Who makes performance parts for your 4 banger? Other than RRM and RPW? Exacly... no one! Neither of those 2 companies are being pushed to outperform anyone. Why would they invest mad money to get an extra 2% gain out of their mods if they know they'll be able to sell whatever they have in stock anyway?

It depends entirely on the motor though, take a run of the mill Civic and it won't gain 10 HP with an intake.

alright thanks, anyways think, why would someone want to make parts for the 94 when they can do the 63? More people mod the 63 than the 94.

ok so i have been researching and looking through my rom all day trying to figure out the location of the rev limits.

Senate, this is what i found, now im not sure if this even is the locations or not but i thought id show you and see what you think.

ok. in my rom image: http://www.mediafire.com/file/mnzmq2mdmtn/Stock 03 lancer oz AT.hex

... i found four different locations/addresses: 35a63, 35a67, 35c25, and 35c27.

i didnt want to try them yet cuz i read something about if these arent correct and i changed them, then the checksums wouldn't be right or something, potentially damaging the ecu. And i didn't want that to happen... so let me know what you think

Those addresses aren't anywhere near where the values reside. What you are probably looking at is the MUT tables. You do NOT want to change any of these values.

I've been doing alot of comparisions between various ROMs from different Mitsubishi's and looking at the code of each one in an effort to decipher our Lancer ROM's Rev Limit values. I'm making progress, it just takes time.

For people that don't have any cylinder head work, valvetrain work, changed piston compression ratio or a large plenum intake manifold (which is a very large percentage of Lancer owners), zero gains will be seen by increasing the limit to 7000. If you look at any Lancer dyno run you will plainly see that the powerband begins falling off after 4500-5000. The dynamics of the 4G94 are to make low end torque. The rod length and stroke are very long and the piston speeds are already very, very high at the stock redline.

The quest of a 7000rpm redline may do more harm then good once it starts getting flashed into ROMs. Just something to think about.
