It's a part that might wear out after replacing the clutch so you may as well go ahead and change it one time. No need to pay the same labor twice.

Well I finally got my clutch installed after much drama.

A word to the wise about Spec stage 1 clutches. Make sure that they are sending you one with a throw out bearing and be specific on the year. As stated before the 04 and ups have a different TOB.

I'm only 30 miles into the break in period but the clutch has already alleviated that bucking I used to experience when taking off slowly. I won't be able to really get on it throttle wise until the break in 500 mile period is over. Hopefully I'll get that by next week.

I did find out one thing interesting when I was looking at the stock clutch. You'll never guess that Exedy makes the OEM clutch for the lancer. I'm surprised they don't make any aftermarket clutches for us but those for the EVO are abundant.

Day 2...

Clutch pedal feel is much stiffer than stock. Reminds me of a 2000 WRX pedal feel. Not unbearable but I notice it when I get back in the car.

I went flew out of town for the holidays so I still have only 300 miles so far on the new clutch. The pedal feel is returning to normal levels now. I estimate by Friday I will have enough miles to finally launch but so far the clutch is already making a big difference. The car does not jerk as much on take off. It's a nice clean grab and go as you release the clutch.

Jesus. You could get an aftermarket part plus install for less than that!

That's why I am asking exactly what they say he is getting.

Only cost me $66X.00 with tax and labor on my clutch install. Includes Throw Out Bearing.

RAPE. Plain and simple. You have to keep shopping around. As I said earlier, you could go aftermarket for less $$$.

Today I officially broke in the clutch. I had just enough miles to start launching and was invited to the track.

The clutch with a new combination of motor mounts was awesome. I did smell it after the first run and continued to on the way home so I hope I didn't hurt anything but let me tell you all a new clutch is well worth the install if you like to race. Get the mounts too as they are only $150 from deyeme racing and it is basically the same labor to install the clutch and mounts.

I'm going to do a newer review of those since there hasn't been a thread in ages.
