FF convert to AWD. How?

you know i've always thought that the best car is the car that you build yourself from ground up. i think my lancer is great for me at my point of life because it lowers my insurance but even thought my VIN will lower it, it will not raise my insurance if i fix it up from ground up. so my question is...

how do you change the drivetrain FF to a AWD or aka 4WD? nothing is impossible as from what i heard from some people.

First off, 4WD != AWD. AWD has a center differential whereas 4WD does not. Both put power to all 4 wheels, but they way they do it is different.

It's very difficult. If you would take the time to run a search you could see this has been done to death. It's VERY expensive, and VERY impractical. Invariably it would be cheaper to sell your Lancer and buy an AWD car. To avoid a repeat of all the other conversion threads I'm going to close this one and you can look through the information that's already been posted as well as these links.

Should just sell your FWD and get an AWD.

Since Hobie pretty much cover what I want to say...I have nothing more to add...

If you really want an AWD car for cheap insurance...check this...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6355

Or some old Mazda 323 GTX (Turbo AWD), Galant VR-4 (2.0 Turbo AWD) or Subaru Legacy Turbo RS (2.2 Turbo AWD)...even old Celica All-Trac (2.0 Turbo AWD)...

i would had thought the conversion would be easy since the EVO 7 is the same body frame as the Lancers. couldnt i just buy the EVO 7 parts from the dealer and convert my Lancer? either way if its expensive im sure the parts are still cheaper then buying the EVo it self right? the fun part is putting it together yourself then bringing it to the shop to get it checked up.

Actually, the fun part is cutting and welding your FWD Lancer chassis

Their chassis are NOT identically the same...You wouldn't think the extra $$$ for the EVO is just the turbo and AWD, right...numerous chassis renforcement AND the hub for the rear transfer case...
