Accolade - Short Shifter Kit

The Mitsubishi gear shifter system is one of the better ones on the market. The early Mitsubishi and Proton vehicles all virtually used the same design being a metal base system. Later model vehicles in the Mitsubishi and Hyundai range moved towards the much improved plastic base system which had a major improvement over the early design. RPW has spent considerable time looking at these systems in order to modify them. We can now provide modified Manuel shifter assemblies which can be a simply bolt in / bolt out affair for all model vehicles in of course the Proton, Mitsubishi and Hyundai field.

RPW has modified this shifter to increase the throw of the stick both forwards and backwards, as well as sideways. This means that with practice you can do your flat gear changes (Within reason) without fearing of missing the gear. Due to the increased feel for the gearbox synchro rings, you can know how hard to push it and get a better feel of when to release and engage the clutch.

This is not achieved by just shortening the stick, although the height of the stick will be approx 1" shorter than normal. This is achieved by lengthening the lever after the pivot point on both the forwards and backwards and sideways levers so that for the now less throw on the top half of the shaft, there is now a larger movement on the throw point after the pivot point. Basic principles of engineering used to your benefit.

With practice RPW clients report being able to go straight from 2nd - 3rd gear on a straight diagonal rather than having to do a sideways movement. This has to be one of our most popular upgrades on these vehicles. The main difference between ours and the B&M range - we of course have the extra side ways reduction in movement. So for marginally more money than paying for a new casting, consider the RPW unit which is an exchange unit modified in house and available at all times.

Of course RPW offers its guarantee warranty - if you fit the shifter and don't like it, return it back for a refund of your money (Excluding freight costs). You don't get much better than that. Above units are always an exchange unit with an appropiate "Core Charge" applicable refunded upon return of the stock unit.

We can work with RPW on a discounted rate and getting this done as a group..
