Question how much HP

how much hp can the 4g94 tranny handle? my guess is around 300-400.

Honestly, I can't think of a single guy that complained about breaking one. Even RRM with their drag car.

well i know fwd can only go so far...at least not as far as rwd trannies .generally, anything beyond 500whp would need to be reinforced. correct me if im wrong.

I see you have a Teggy; like the man said above the limits of the Lancer tranny haven't been explored. What's the highest hp Lancer around? 300-350 hp? it'll hold that with ease. But with our limited R&D and parts for the Lancer, it'll be most difficult to even reach such lofty goals. I know Honda's stock trannys hold alot of abuse, especially those B series trannys.

but as a daily driver could one really make use of a 300+whp front wheel driver.
wouldnt torque steer, gas mileage, wheel spin, be ridiculous.

yes, it sure would. that's why i've decided to make my goals "realistic." if i wanted to build a full race car, it wouldnt be fwd...that's for sure...it would be more along the lines of an sr20 swapped 240sx or a 2jz powered supra the only exception for a fwd racecar is if the car is in the sub2000lbs category (eg. crx, eg6 hatch, etc.)

are you all talking about manual or automatic tranny because i was wondering if my tranny would be able to handle the stage 2 turbo and a couple minor upgrades RRM sells so i guess that would be somewhere about 235 whp hopefully.

why couldn't you make use of it??? since we definitely have to turbo it to get those kind of hp numbers, you could tune down your car for daily driving and also have a tune for the high hp racing. with a good piggyback or even standalone you can have easy access to multiple tunes. the DTEC FCBC for instance can hold 5 different maps in the memory at 1 time. so you could have tons of options for running under different conditions and fuel octane levels. and with the LSD, torque steer and wheel spin is going to be lessened; add a set of traction bars up front and it's even better (though i agree never removed).

as an add on question, can the drive shafts take the abuse? even the honda guys find that the tranny isn't the problem but when pushing big numbers they snap half shafts all day long.

ahh, the flaw of fwd...you bring up a good point, though. i never thought about the axles. even though i know of some lancers going 400+hp, i'm still skeptical about our driveshafts. if stock can't take the abuse, the only answer i can think of is reinforced axles.

RRM. and it's 300 hp oops, my bad. and nevermind, i think they said this about their cylinder head:

"Mitsu heads and intakes come to life once ported. This is the exact same head we use on our DRAG LANCER and is capable of 300 h.p. Ports are 20% greater in size and is it is polished to maximize flow." blah blah

i dont exactly know how much that "drag lancer" is putting out. but so far as a noob to lancers, thats the fastest one i know of.

Omarboy put down 308 whp. That's the highest I know of, and he was running on a stock tranny AFAIK.
