in regards to the question of whether to fully or partially clutch...

its pretty easy to find out whether when you partially clutch in if the clutch is fully disengaged... roll around the side streets or a parking lot at 10mph in 1st gear... begin to clutch in slowly and once the rpms drop to normal idle this should be a safe point to clutch in and change gears without the clutch still being engaged....

i am a fan of partially clutching, i too feel that i shift smoother, and although there is MUCH more chance of making a mistake and grinding a gear i think once perfected it provides quicker smoother shifting...

then again i am a self taught m/t driver so what i do is probably all bad habits... i wouldn't listen to me, so i dont expect anyone else to!

Not sure why you give a little gas on an upshift. You want engine speed to FALL on an upshift.

if i don't give the slightlest gas teh car feels like it bogs when i hit the next gear, it feels like if im in 1st gear at like 2500rpm and i let go of the gas. that buck happens. i need massive pratice other then that im not a bad stick driver

If you're concerned about your technique, then I suggest going to an autocross or some similar driving event and getting some advice. I'm sure you could find someone to take a quick drive with you (not on the autocross course, but just on the street) to give you some pointers. Take it a step further and get a few guys to drive with you so that you get some different viewpoints.

I never give gas on an upshift, and I don't have any bucking issues :>)

Cheers,

Mark
