Thanks for all the help, I took it to another dealer and they have ordered the parts and are going to fix it.

to the op, do you rev your engine while down shifting? It takes a lot more work to downshift like that if your engine's rpms aren't matched to the gear you're shifting to. Dunno if there's a real problem with your car or not but if you try to downshift aggressively without matching the rpms it might cause similar problems to what you're having

Hmm it might be the vice versa of trying to put it in reverse while the car is moving. The tech guy told me it will grind or at least make noise if you're moving the slightest and to change.

I'm no pro at this stuff but if the lancer will grind while bearly moving and then you shift into reverse, maybe the same thing happens when you're going too fast and you attempt to down shift into a too low gear.. only an observation.

The tech said no matter how hard Im shifting it shouldnt be doing that and that the problem is from a defective synchronizer most likely. He also said while you are cruising in fourth or fifth gear dont leave your hand on the shift knob because even the slightest pressure for a while can ruin those synchronizers.

Yeah do not rest your hand on the knob or your foot on the clutch. Still, if the car is so new it was obviously defective and probably not a product of your own actions.

The car should be able to downshift from any rpm, even if it is high rpm and violently done. It will wear your synchros, but it should still do it. I mis-shifted into 3rd once on the highway and my OZ took it like a champ!

on another note, don't do those high rpm downshifts anymore!

That sucks hopefully all that replacement doesn't take too long. And yeah I read in the manual about the shift knob so now I just drive like a normal person (both hands on steering wheel) How lame and boring
