Whining noise when downshifting. Normal or not?
I own a 14 lancer es 5 speed manual. It has 15k miles on it and i just noticed a whining noise when i downshift. I usually hear it going for 3th to 2nd at a higher rpm but i can hear it when down shifting from any gear. Its just louder dhifting from 3 to 2 and from 2 to 1. It gets loud at high rpms and lowers as rpms go down. To me it sounds alot like reverse does but ive herd from others that its like an old siren. Do you guys think its the syncros kicking in or is this a bad sign. Im headed to the dealer monday for my 15k oilchange and servicing, but i would like a bit of help on it if its ok to be driving till then or not.
Heres a bit more info if it helps. Shifting into any gear is easy and smooth with the slight occasion its a bit hard to go into reverse. although im not sure if thats normal either since this is my first manual. The noise also goes away completely if i hit the throttle.
Nevermind about the downshifting. It can be herd at anypoint when ever i let off throttle. Its herd better at low rpms but im still able to here it clearly like i said in the last post
