differential bearing replacement in an 04 ES

Hello all,
First post here and of course it's a question. Looked all over the Internet and tried to find the answer but no luck. Have an automatic fed 04 es and I believe the differential bearings may be bad. Grinds while driving down the road. Am I correct in assuming that the tranny needs to come out to be replaced? I already had to rip out the tranny once for an input shaft bearing on my 05 oz rally and don't wanna have to do another one. Next question is anyone know what the repair cost would be? Bearings are $41 shipped but I would like a rough estimate if I decide to sell the car to someone so they know what it would involve.
Thanks in advance
