won't shift into 5th or reverse

So I had to replace the input shaft bearing so I went ahead an went through the rest of the transmission to make sure everything looked ok the sencros are all good everything was in goo shape so I put the transmission back into the car an when I went to bleed the clutch noticed it wasn't shift into the gears so I took the control box out an messed with it everything was kinda stuff so I put gear oil on it an messed with the reverse lockout spring cause it wasn't loading like it should I got that fixed so put it back in now for some reason it won't go into 5th or reverse after I've taken the control box out twice more an can't figure out what the issue is anyone have a clue what I'm missing......?

when my car wouldn't go into 5th or reverse, It had severe issues.... all my shift forks were galled from lack of oil

I ended up getting a rebuilt unit -- not getting mine rebuilt

check your linkages on the transmission, the actual cables, any binding will cause this, specially if you say you can engage it by hand.

if shifting between 1 and 2, as well as 3 and 4, and if the shifter itself physically moves to the 5th and reverse positions then the linkage is not the issue.

so I’m in the same boat here when reaching down in the engine bay I can physically shift through gears but when I put the retaining bolt in the control housing it’s stuck is it installed wrong or is there more issues I missed when rebuilding!
