i was driving and i getting ready to take a right turn, so then I braked a lil then I started gearing down and I noticed it wasnt feeling like it was gearing down, so then i braked to a stop and I put it in neutral and all of sudden, my RPMs went to 4000 and then i stuck it into 1st w/ the clutch in and i didnt have my foot on the gas at all and my RPMs were still sitting at 4000. I finally jus drove up a lil bit and then they went back to normal, no problem since....

my question is...WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED??

 

Was it right after you started driving? Was it cold?

If so, the car does that to warm up (cold oil doesn't lubricate as well, blah blah).

 

no it wasnt right after i started driving and yes it was cold outside but warmer then usual...i usually let me car warm up alot b4 i drive it in cold weather.
