Fadding Paint

Ok I'm color blind but a few friends told me that my Bumpers, side skirts, wing, and mirrors were all fadding to a lighter red. I tried waxing and buffing they said still dull and fadded. Anyone else have this problem and any suggestions other than a new paint job? My Lancer is Red. And while I was in Iraq it was garaged and covered so it's not sun damage.

If it is still under warranty take it to the dealer and see what they say.. if it is a flaw when they painted it at the factory, it might be covered. Its worth a shot.

Paint isn't covered by factory warranty

There are a lot of Lancers out there with the same problem you're having plus also it seem's they painted my Lancer with one coat of paint and clear coat. The paint scratches with very light contact. I thought it was me but there are others out there who own Lancers with the same issue. One guy waxed his Lancer and the paint on his mirrors rubbed off. It is a factory problem.
To read about the complaints, check this site out; www.mitsubishisucks.com. This site has complaints from Lancer owners with issues that Mitsubishi isn't willing to take care of like warranties and so on.
I found the information on the web when I was looking for the Technical Service Bulletin on ALLDATA's website regarding any recalls on the Lancer.
I didn't like what they had to say about the Lancer but some of it rings true. I really like my car and I plan on keeping it around for a long time.

just a note: red is actually one of the hardest colors to take car of. to make a red pigment, you have to have an oxide in it already( kinda like rust) so it fades the fastest. the only companies that have really really good red paint is ferrari, and porsche. you don't see too many of faded red ferrari's and porsches

Mitsubishi dealer has a guy that comes every month from corporate and i have to have him look at it and then they might repaint it for me. If not I'm gonna pay 5k for a custom Candy Red or Candy Green paint job.
