I guess just keep cleaning and oiling it every 1,000 miles

Like the man said keep it clean and don't replace it with a garbage Ractive element for the love of God. If you really want to replace it, slap on the A'pexi Power Filter or something like the Blitz SUS filter.

The Lancer actually has a small valve screw mounted on the throttle body. The check engine light will come on once the OBDII catches the fault. It is a warranty repair for most of us since the Lancer is new in 2002. If you repair it yourself, make sure to ge the o-ring for the mounting since the other will most likely tear when you remove the faulty one. Good luck.

not to sound stupid but how exactly to u d/c the battery? do u take off the + or - ? or what do i do? thx

2 things. the battery, disconnect the black side first. secondly, uhm did u check ur throttle body? is it clean? try cleaning it

I'd say try using carb choke cleaner (that stuff will dissolve most if not everything) buuuut, not to sure.
