I meant that the engine will rev up, that means the ecu has been reset....let it idle, it's safe, and don't have it in gear....

Yeah, somtimes that happens, I had to reset my ECU a few times for my intake since the CEL was comming up. It's been about 7 months since I got the intake and no problems with it or the ECU. You might run into that problem with the CEL, just reset the ECU again utill it's all good to go. How's the car feel and sound now?

honestly i didn't think a made one difference. I installed my intake without reseting anything and that was 7 months ago. Last month i started modding my sound system so i disconnected power and a couple hours later powered everything up. I didn't notice any difference....

i actually noticed a slight difference when getting on the freeway to go home, it has better response now in the lower rpms... before i didnt gain anything but high end power, now ive got the low end. should i do the same thing when i install exhaust too since i am releaving back pressure and allowing more air through the motor?

No need. Only reason to reset ecu for intake is cuz it directly affects the MAS. The exhaust on the other hand doesn't have any kind of sensor, so you should be ok.

hhmmmm strange..... ECU's are usually "learning" computers meaning that they will adjust themselves to meet your new curves. Disconnecting the battery forces the ECU to learn. You can just drive the car around for awhile and it will adjust itself no need to disco the battery in my opinion.

Take the keys out of the ignition, pop the hood, and disconnect the negative post.

Either way it shouldn't matter. My preference is to disconnect the battery just to be on the safe side...nothing like wasting 15 min of my life drinkin a beer than driving!!!

Yes it DOES matter!! Listen to ghostrider - he's right. I'm a mechanic myself ( diesel engines ) and you always d/c the negative terminal. If you d/c the pos. term. when you hook it back up you will shock yourself. I know - I've seen my younger guys do this.

For the love of God, please tell me that anyone playing with their battery terminals knows to disconnect the negative side. I almost didn't post that info cuz I thought it was a given.
