Mass Air Flow Sensor Problem
I've put a new cold air intake and now my check engine light is on.... put the scanner to it and its the MAF sensor.....its not damaged in anyway...its on properly....i still have to check it for leaks just in case but would anyone have any suggestions?
no he has an evo 8, u should never need a tune w/ a regular lancer until major mods. u must have f'ed up the maf honeycombs. or u didnt reset battery, or u didnt plug maf back in all the way.
MAS is fine....cant screw it up by unscrewing it and putting it down.....im just stumped.... we tried to clear it wit the scanner but as soon as it goes off...a second later it comes back on... im gonna take it apart this weekend and redo it... but i have a feeling its not gonna fix the problem for some reason..

1. Recheck all MAF wire connections
2. Unhook negative battery cable and let sit for 15 minutes.
3. Replug battery and let car idle for 10-15 minutes.
That should fix it. Also as mentioned above, check the honey comb on the MAF. When I installed my CAI, I accidentally drop the screwdriver on the honeycomb. I fixed it though and haven't ever had a problem.

His first thread.
You don't really need to tune just for an intake. Resetting the ECU should be more than is even necessary. You said your friend had a scanning tool. Use it! Get the code, find the problem!

Well, it's teardown time:
Take everything apart.
Inspect the MAS for damage. If the veins are bent, carefully use an allen wrench to push them out from the good side. I don't remember what size, but this will work.
Put the hose back on the TB
Put the MAS back on the hose. The flat access panel should be on top. The harness should be on the left side as you're facing the engine.
Reinstall the CAI (stock airbox would be better to eliminate the possibility that the CAI is the issue, but it's probably too late for the airbox
)
Good luck
