you make sure that you didn't put the MAS backwards? did you plug the MAS back in as well?

How do you know the MAF is bad? Posting a pic of your install would be helpful for troubleshooting too.

Yeah...I know they go bad. And I'm sure you don't want to hear this, but punctuation really helps get your point across.

I dunno though...it seems really unlikely to me that 2 MAFs just suddenly failed. The intakes themselves do little to modify air flow, and the fact that none of the FI Lancers, most of which still use their stock MAF sensors with significantly increased flow, have had failures. It's far more likely that either they both got damaged or the ECU code is misleading.

Well...the ECU is what gives you CEL's so it's something you need to consider. It will only put out what it reads in, but the codes it throws don't necessarily indicate failure so much as irregularity. Did you reset the ECU when you installed the intake? It's possible that the ECU simply started throwing a CEL because of the change in air volume or velocity. I wouldn't say that's 100% true, and you may very well have gotten two failed MAF's, but if that's the case I think you could get a write-in vote for worst luck modifying a Lancer. Nobody's taking the gold from me in that category though.
