Unhappy Belt problems!!

I was driving today and all of a sudden i heard this loud sort of howling noise coming from the engine. I think my timing belt may be loose because sometimes i hear a squeaking noise from it. Also my brakes a pretty worn out and squeak when i stop, could it be the pads rubbing against the rotor(i wasn't pressing the breaks)???help please!!

Best thing to do is take it to a mechanic and have them look at both. Hell most places that do your oil will check both breaks and belts in their inspection. If they say either is bad then get it fixed.

Timing belt? Do you see any changes in how your engine is running? RPM?
Get it changed as soon as possible otherwise you might end up getting yourself a new valvetrain.

2 days ago i installed my rrm pulley, and one of my belt was on to tight ... and it was squeaking like crazy ... i just loosen it a bit .. and the noise was gone ... as for your brakes, if your hearing noise, im pretty suse its time for a change .. change it before they really start rubbing on your rotors or else your need new rotors as well ...

Your brakes are squeaking even when not braking because the pads are so worned that the warning pin is now rubbing against the disc. Change your pads asap, or end up with a nice groove in your rotor.

You should get them resurfaced every time you change your pads. It's only 10$ a piece and it's an investement, not an expense.

The squeaking you hear is probably not the timing belt. Espescially since you said you'd tight it with the bolt... that's your accessories belt or whatever it's called.

It's not the timing belt. If it was loose it would have jumped a bunch of teeth by now and the car wouldn't run.
