Cat Problems?

A couple weeks ago my car through an SES. I got my notice about the pre-warming on the cat a couple months ago but kept putting off going in. When the SES is came on I decided it was time to take it in. I have an aftermarket header (RPW) and exhaust but never had issues with the SES before. I took it in, they worked their magic, and the SES went away...until a couple days later. It's back now and I'm wondering WTF. Is it possible that my cat is going or has gone bad? I've got about 62k on the car but I do drive pretty aggressively. Plus, would you think that the issue with the 'service bulletin' would cause premature death on the cat?

If you threw a CEL it's gotta be from the header you need to pick up the CEL Fix from Road Race.

I would think it's the header but I've had it on for over a year with no issues. Why would the header suddenly start forcing the code?

the PCM reflash mitsu was using for the recall makes the heated o2 sensor in the cat operate on a different signal if i remember correctly...essentially it's sending a different signal back to the ECU.

So I get that but the code actually started right before the reflash. That's what makes this whole thing seem so weird. I'm wondering if I should just replace the cat and see if it goes away. Nice Magnaflow high-flow cat would go nicely with my exhaust ;-)

if you have the money to spend on a cat; go for it. OR you could go to autozone and get the code pulled for free and you'll know the real deal.

Makes sense. I'll run by this weekend and see what it says. If it's the same code it through before the reflash then I guess it means bad cat.
