RRM Header SES

i havent really found anyone w/ this problem yet so i thought i would post.

i have currently installed my RRM header and im having issues w/ the SES light.

so after i installed it the light was NOT on. i drove for about 4-5 days and the light came on. it stayed on for about 3-4 days then went off. now its back on again for about 10 days.

i have the extention for the 02sensor installed.

anyone else w/ this prolem or could help w/ some insight?

get the code pulled so that you know exactly what is causing it. could be you knocked something loose during the header install, could be the header. Autozone will pull it for free

First go to Autozone and see if it is throwing a valid code. If they say it is the O2 sensor then it is most likely something minimal, perhaps you need to make sure the sensor was reinstalled correctly. If they say that you are throwing a code somewhere else then I would take it to a shop to have it looked at as soon as you can.

When I put my headers on I also disconected my battery and no light came on after 3 days of driving. After that I've had a SES light on ever since and that was well over a year ago. I've had the car serviced several times and had it checked out and everytime the bone head mechanic tells me that my SES light is on. I explain that it's just the O2 sensor and the headers and that I need to put spacers on and they looked at me confused.

Where did you put your CEL eliminator?

Thanks for all the input.

I did get the code pulled and they said that its the 02 sensor. im just confused about why.

I bought the header from twisty on here and it came w/ an extention thing in the 02 sensor spot. i just tightened that good and installed them. then installed the 02 sensor.

Thats why you are having the CEL. The CEL eliminator/"extension thing" goes on your catalytic converter not on the headers. He (twisty) must have made the same mistake a lot of other people have because they send you that thing and assume you know where it goes. I made that mistake to. You can take the headers off and fix it or I did it while lying under the car, but I sprayed some penetrating oil on it a few times letting it soak in and then I got it off as far as it would go with an adjustable wrench(try not to strip it out) from there I took a large pipe wrench and cranked it the rest of the way off. In my case it didn't hurt my headers or the CEL eliminator and I am using it today, no CEL. Its stuck on because of all the carbon from exhaust bleeding through and building up on the threads. Anyway, when you get it off take the sensor off of the cat and screw it in there and then screw the sensor into the CEL elim. and your done, wipe the sweat from your face. If for some reason you can't get it out this way you'll have to pay a mechanic or something to get midevil on that b!!ch. If the CEL elim. is not usable for some reason get a new one from RRM.

Thats exactly what I'm talking about, the CEL eliminator should not be on your header and it is, try to get it off like I described above, unless someone has a better method, my method is free though. When I did that RR told me to put another CEL eliminator on the cat and leave that one there but I dont see how thats a good Idea, but hey what do I know, I just like to have things done the right way. Anyway, I'd get that off of there, put it on cat and no CEL.

Dont forget to take off your battery cable and reset the ecu. For both A) to get rid of the SES light, and B) to reset the fuel curves, i'm sure the o2 sensor was reading wrong information with that MIL eliminator on there and things are a little off
