HELP!!! throttle problem

Ok, I installed a short ram intake last night. Now today, when I was driving, the car suddenly drops in rpms and feels like it is going to stall, when I am going down the road, it starts jerking. This comes and goes. The stock MAS is there, everything is hooked up that is supposed to be, this is really scaring the hell out of me, what is causing this?

1) after installing the short ram did you let the car run idle for 15 minutes or so to adjust the ECU? important to do that...

2) is anything under your hood that can possibly be blocking the air filter? a plastic bag, whatever... worth checking to make sure there's unobstructed flow.

my 2 cents...

didn't let it run for 15, but I drove it to and from work today, should I let it set and run instead of driving it? Is that even something that you normally have to do?

There is no obstruction.

can always disconnect the negative terminal from the battery for like 15mins and let the ECU reboot itself, would definetly notice the intake that way...

yeah definately reset the ecu and then let it idle for a while. that should correct it. Also make sure you don't have ANY leaks in the connection for the intake ... no missed/unplugged hoses or loose clamps. That should do it

Ok, I undid the battery for 15 minutes and then hooked it back up and let the car idle for another 20 last night. Haven't driven it yet, but I will let you guys know if that fixed it. thanks for the help.

These guys steered you in the right direction. The MAS was telling the computer that you were inhaling a lot more air than normal. Probably bugged the thing out.......

You will be fine Interceptor

The same thing happened to me after i installed mine. I was being impatient and just started driving and when i let off the gas to stop the rpm's would go to 400 or so and feel like it wanted to stall. I just reset the ecu and, let it run for a while it went away.

Ok, After the reset, I drove to work today and it is still doing it. IS it going to hurt anything to keep driving it for a few days and see if it adjusts itself, should I reset again? Or should I just yank this thing off and put the stock back on? This is my first new car, and I am very nervous about damaging something. thanks again guys.

I would go back through, step by step, and make sure everything is tight and on the way it's supposed to be. Then try resetting the ECU again. If that don't work, contact the people you got the intake from.

My car always idled really low and second gear was always jumpy. Is the jumpiness restricted to only 2nd and 2rd? I think it's pretty common for the card to be a bit jumpy if you're in gear (esp 2nd or 3rd), let off the gas, and then get back on it gradually.

I wouldn't sweat it unless it really feels like something's wrong. If it does, switch back to stock, reset the ECU, drive around and check for it again. If it's still a problem, go to the dealership.

Mine car is an automatic. Cruising at 40, the car starts to jerk badly. at a stop or idle, it will bog down, and stall. I am going today to order a replacement airbox.

Ok, I tried to reset the computer again, I unhooked the battery for an hour, and let it ilde afterwards for 20 minutes, no joy. How the hell can something as simple as an intake screw up the car? The MAS sensor is plugged up, I can't understand this at all. This is not friggin rocket science. The new air box is on order, if going back to stock doesn't fix it, in the shop she goes. dammit.

is your normal idle bad? i've heard that generic filters might do that. i used to have the same problem but after a much more extreme mod than just an intake. it eventually went away.

so let me get this straight. the car bogs down when you come to a stop? and it jerks when cruising at 40mph. i think there's either a leak or a restriction somewhere in the piping. if that aint it, check to see if all the plugs to your injectors are connected right. you might have snagged one while installing the intake. also make sure the ground wire from the battery to the grounding spot on the car is bolted down right.

yeah, now when I put it in park, it just dies. I'll double check this wires as you suggested.
