exhaust replacement suggestions
Apparently the people who welded the hangars on my magnaflow axleback (1.5 years ago) didn't use the BEST stuff and the bolts sheared. My muffler worked its way out of the hangers and has been resting on the sway bar for I don't know how long. Well, too much flex combined with bumpy dirt roads caused a complete break on the inlet to the muffler right by the flange. I took it to Midas today and they told me I needed a catback replacement. Surprise surprise. So that's why I'm here looking for opinions.
My ASCII rendition of the problem...
=====||=snapped====|||||||||||||||||||||=
My questions...
1. Can the inlet pipe be chopped off and a new one put on with a new flange?
2. Should I steer clear of the ebay catbacks?
I know without having a good idea of what the other pipes look like, it's hard to make a call on what to do. I would almost venture a guest that the rest of the piping is fine and it's just the aftermarket part that went bad. I haven't had a chance to remove the entire exhaust to check it, but I sure as hell don't trust their opinion.
