Ebay Catback opinions

Anyone running this one?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/08-13-Mitsubishi-Lancer-Evo-X-3-Catback-Exhaust-SS-4-Dual-Black-Muffler-Tips-/161311568933?hash=item258eeb3425&vxp=mtr
Looks reasonable but not sure what muffler they're using. Just want something cheap and decent sounding but not obnoxious. I like that it's all black. I don't want chrome tips and besides the 'burnt' tips most aftermarket catbacks are chrome.

I wouldn't trust fitment of eBay exhausts. My friend bought a no name one and the tips were hitting the diffuser. IMO I would just keep the stock exhaust over that one.. Just keep checking the for sale section here. People are selling their name brand exhausts all the time.

Yeah like Jay said those kind of parts never hold up. I have seen welds snap. Would suggest contacting some vendors about pricing since sometimes will work with you or have specials on parts.

If you're looking for black tips, CP-E has a dual exit system what you can get black tips on. I'd stay away from eBay exhausts in general.

What are silencers, does it create more back pressure?

They are parts that that get inserted into the tips of the muffler to reduce the volume of the exhaust.

yes. they are just little metal caps to cover the tips and decreases the opening in the back.

EDIT: Treed!

For that price you could have gotten a decent used exhaust from a reputable brand from the classifieds here

some of you guys get too hung up on name brand exhausts. it's just a metal pipe a muffler. quality differences are design, thickness and material, and weld quality. oh and how it sounds.

Most big names jack up pricing just because of the name.

I don't need the entire catback to be polished. It's under the freaking car that no one sees and will be ruined after one winter.

I have a borla catback right now and it sounds great (cheap too, got it for $550) but is too loud with a HFC. So i want something quieter but am not going to spend 1k on a catback for a 33k car.

I'll have the borla up for sale if the ebay kit sounds decent and fits well. Worse case, after a few years it goes to crap, i get a new one and change it up again.
