okay, i went out and fully inspected all the connections and whatnot... found the problem. i feel like an idiot. the rubber fitting that connects the intake to the throttle body had come loose just enough, that a gap on the back side opened up. it was just big enough to maybe get a pencil through. i didnt see it at first cause it was on the back side. so i put it back together and reset the ecu to get that damn light off, and now its all good. thanx for the help.

 

Pull your plugs and check the gap. I've had simmilar problem, I adjusted all gaps to spec. & solved problem

 

I have my CEL on too and pulling a 421 code and the engine is doing the same thing. I have header, test pipe and axle back. Reset it several times, but CEL comes back on. My car is a manual too, and just yesterday it started to idle funny. Gonna get my SAFC and tune the car and see what is going on.

 

think code 421 means inproper heating of cat. WTF does that mean?

 

Running a header and test pipe will throw your CEL all day cuz the o2 sensors are picking up the same reading. You can get a CEL fix to remedy that situation.
