Question RMR intake question

I finally got my RMR intake installed on my 02 ES last night (got rained out tuesday night) and it was harder than i anticipated but i got through all the steps in the instructions fine and the car started and ran with no check engine light so i'm assuming i'm doing good. My question is how loud is the intake supposed to be? To me sitting inside the car with the windows down it sounds like i installed a fart pipe or something. It's not all the time, just when i accelerate hard or get over 3500 RPM (around that area is get increasingly louder as RPMs increase). Is it possible that something is loose and vibrating or would that make it noisy all the time? I am just wondering if anyone else noticed how loud the intake was. Thanx for all the responses in advance.

I have the same intake, and I haven't heard any weird sounds. I like how it sounds over 3500rpm's, and yes it is a little sound, but it sounldn't sound like a "fart pipe." Also did you install the bolt that goes though the bottom of the heat shield?

the sri is gonna make that sound. Mine sounds like a lawnmower on steroids. And yes it is a lot louder than the stock intake. But it is normal, I have heard the same story from numerous members on this site who have installed the sri.

i searched BTW and didn't read anything about a lot of extra noise with the intake. It was a lot cooler today and there was less traffic (0630 when i was headed to work) so i really got to get on it and i kinda like the noise... i think once i get my new exhaust installed the extra noise will grow on me.

HondaKillingLan: i installed the 3 bolts through the bottom of the heatshield, but it was hard to get the one that attaches the shield to the RMR bracket really tight due to the fact that i had to reach under the shield to hold the nut while i tighten from the top so i figured maybe this was a little loose and causing my noise. The only thing is i would assume that would make it noisy all the time, not just 3500+ RPM.

Anywho, thanx for the responses i feel a lot better now knowing that the increased noise is normal.

When I installed my RMR intake, I got quite a bit more interior noise when I press the gas pedal hard and above about 3000 rpm. People from outside the car don't notice it, though. I love it!

That growl is totally normal for the intake. Mine SCREAMS at 3500 rpms and you can't hear anything over it (header, exhaust).
