My wing broke!!

So yea i got home last night and noticed one side of my evo 8 wing was detached. So i unscrewed the other side. Turns out the guy that installed stripped out the hole that screw was in and came out. So im gonna stick a 4 inch screw in there or something to fix it. I got home too late to try and fix it last night, and driving around today without the deck piece made it seem a little quicker. The car didnt seem as sluggish as it normally is.

I wouldn't think a wing would slow a car down that much.

The wing add excessive downforce which you really don't need on an OZ but it certainly looks nice. Generally evo owners who run wingless at the track tend to trap 1-2 mph higher than if the wing were on.

eh... I'll keep my wing on my evo.. the rear end is sloppy without it... all over the high way. Plus it's easier to open the truck with **** in your hands.

my wing broke too, on my evolution ix.. i just noticed one way in the lot it had two veritcal cracks on it- looked really weird and i thought it was from ice or something.. it bends down and almost touches the trunk when i got past a certain mph.. anyways we sent it to mitsu and they said that it was vandalism and that we'd have to get it covered through insurance.. it still costs us 500 =[

I got all upset and then I realized that it's just an OZ. I was worried there for a min.

if the rear end of your car is sloppy without a wing at normal highway speeds (and i mean 100 and below), it's not the wing. i'd be worried about more serious suspension or tire issues.

Oh man for a second I was worried that your comment was worthwhile and helpful and then I realized it was dumb so I stopped caring. I was worried there for a minute.

Was this an OEM wing or an aftermarket deal? Seems like the evo wings have trouble. everyone seems to be getting cracks or needing new paint. Thats too bad though. The wing does help on the highway, so I hope you get that worked out.

Duh you guys must be doing something wrong. EVO wings are supposed to be indestructible. Just look at all the EVO rollovers. lol.

Maybe you should stick that 4 inch screw into the guy that messed up your wing. ha. Seriously though you will just have to rethread the hole and then the problem should be fixed.

haha, technically you gotta go like over 120+mph to actually put the wing to work
