My FM reception is horrible. The static is very annoying, so I just listen to CD's.

 

mine is not so much static just very random changes in volume. There really is no pattern to like there should be if is was just the volume control feature.

 

I have the same problem with the SVC... nothing happens. With the FM, it's the poorest signal I'd ever heard in a car. But, today in a Highway, it picked up signal from two tv channels. How can I "test" or diagnose for these two issues?

 

It's not the SVC.

What's happening is the radio is momentarily switching from stereo to mono mode even if the light doesn't flicker off. When it does, the volume drops. You'll notice that the reception is fine on most mono FM and AM stations.

This is a known issue to Mitsubishi (happens on the Outlanders, too). A couple weeks back, they put a new test radio in my Lancer, and it improved the issue slightly (still happens, but the volume swing is much less apparent). Most likely, they're working on their next iteration to resolve the problem.

 

Well its been over a year now and I purchased an 09 GTS and I swear the FM reception still sucks (and now i have the RF system) but it isnt as bad as my 08 ES. The volume sounds much louder on cds and of course with an mp3 player it sounds even better. I get this feeling sometimes like my volume turns itself lower when it is maxed out, almost as if there is some sort or "protection". Not sure if its just a coincidental random volume change or what but I have experienced it more than once.


Just curious if people are still experiencing volume control problems (ie. radio volume changing even when SVC is off) or FM reception problems.
