Gas mileage problems
im also doing about 220 per tank with an intake , i dont get on it at all , i usally dont let my car dont get past 3k , but its auto and its been needing a tranny fluid change kinda bad , so it could be that then
When I first got my car I was only getting 250 mpt. After putting in a SRI, I get to 300 when squeezing every last bit out. All city driving. I wonder what other cheap mods will give me results like this.
Hi, I'm new to the forums, so whats up everybody.
My car seems to get about 225 miles per tank, isn't that pretty bad? My car is completely stock and I recently changed the oil and plugs, and I always check ym tire pressure. What could be causing such bad gas mileage, and what could I do to fix it? Thanks

I'm an automatic also, and I changed my tranny fluid at 80k miles, I'm at 92k, I recently changed my oil, I have a K&N SRI, RRM crank pulley, Kamikaze Headers, and catback exhaust, wtf is wrong with my car, whenever I put gas, I ALWAYS put octane booster and every now and then injector cleaner, so, do I just suck? lol
Actually when I first got my car I spent a couple months running a test on the effects of octane level on milage. I found that I got 2-3 mpg less on high octane than I did on mid grade. Since octane slows the rate of burn in the fuel this sort of makes sense. A slower rate of burn would equate to less power at a given throttle position and therefore driving at a higher throttle position for the same acceleration (as lower octane gas). Driving style is the biggest factor in gas milage.
In general octane booster doesn't do much unless you pour in around a gallon, but if you are adding that to high octane, it could explain your losses. Try running the mid grade for a couple weeks and see if you get better milage.

After reading this thread I decided to test mine and so far I'm at little over a quarter tank and I'm at 230 miles so I think my car is doing good. I will let you know how many miles I rack up before I'm on empty.
My car is an automatic and gas has not been affected at all by how i drive... i can easily get over 300mpt but when i fill up it is around 260... all i have are new spark plugs and a K&N drop in filter. And i drive this thing pretty dang hardthe majority of the time.
Anyway, my test is done and I had about 285 miles when I refueled and I put around 10 gallons in which figures out to about 28-29MPG. This was with the A/C running the whole time and the highway and city driving was about the same, as in I drove on the highway about the same amount as in the city. (my numbers are just rounded off because I don't remember the numbers exactly to the hundedths)
All in all I'm pretty happy with that. One this that does kind of **** me off is that when you are cruising at about 70-75mph your engine runs at about 3100rpm. Is it just my car or are all 5 speed lancers like that?
wow.. im starting to feel really good. i have to fill up like twice a week because of driving to school. my car gets ~350 a tank. and i was getting depressed that i had to fill up all the time. oh, k&n air filter, obx headers with dc cat back, castrol syntec motor oil, old plugs. just giving my variables. oh, and im stick, so that helps a little.
my rpm at 80 mph in 5th is at 3000. it does get on my nerves, but seems like my car is doing alright for itself.
