they're actually taking care of mine later this month - i'm out of town from 22nd - 25th, so i'm dropping the car off at the dealership for them to take to the bodyshop.

we should meet up regardless though - toronto 08 lancer meet!

if you keep track of the paint chips with pictures and bring them in and show it to them, if over time it keeps getting worse, they will or should honour the warranty. lol key word is should, sometimes people can be difficult.

By the way, i am looking forward to a meet in Toronto

I have no issues so far but I will definitely keep an eye out for it.

What's weird is that the back bumper on the left hand side of the car just doesn't feel like it fits properly.

Where are all you're paint rubbing off from?

Mines flaking from the front passenger side bumper around the wheel well, plus a nasty chip on the hood that goes straight to the metal. Seem's like wear an tear dunno if I should take it in tho, maybe see how it progresses.

I have been trying to deal with the service manager...who is as old as me, 25...

He says he has to send the pictures of my paint rubbing off by e-mail to the main Canada mitsu rep for paint warranties....I smell bs now.

The rep e-mailed back saying they looked like scratches in the pics, and I take good pics. I will try to attatch.

But I am going to call mitsu 1-888 number tomorrow and complain and on weds. I am going to another dealer. But what a run around.

Almost 1 1/2 months and no fix, the longer I leave it the easier it is for them to say no its from use thats not warranty now....I am not very happy if I have to pay 600$ to get my bumper properly painted on a 2 month old car.

Just venting.....GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

they fixed mine... actually just got it back two days ago...

didn't repaint the entire bumper (b/c i can still see paint chips) but they did repaint or touch up the areas that were affected. It wasn't just with touch-up paint though b/c if you look at it, you would never be able to tell its been fixed.

Ive noticed on a few BRAND NEW lancers that there are "scratches" on the bumpers. I noticed it on a few of them in the lot. I wonder if it has something to do with all that crap they ship em with

mine has that on the front bumper and it was def scraped off against something, didnt notice til I got home but it was too late since I signed off on it after inspecting it. hasnt gotten worse so no biggie, Ill just touch it up

"Safety Concern - During the side impact test, the struck side rear door became unlatched and swung open. To address this safety concern, Mitsubishi initiated a customer satisfaction campaign described in Mitsubishi Technical Service Bulletin SC-07-002, whereby owners of a 2008 Mitsubishi lancer built before May 11, 2007 can get this service performed free of charge. Vehicles serviced in line with the campaign will have the same level of safety as those vehicles built after May 11, 2007. "

So I went to another dealership to get the paint looked at. As the one dealership I bought it off was lacking in this department and the warranty rep happened to be there. He told me that the blue 2008 lancers were having a problem with the paint holding onto the plastic bumpers... So yay finally on the road to getting it fixed.

lookin' forward to seeing the other 08 lancers in toronto for tomorrow night...

i'd like to check out the same place on your cars where the paint is rubbing off on mine.

had mine fixed last week... and now i'm noticing the same problem all along the areas where the bumper meets with the fender (both front and back). also noticing that after they fixed it... dirt seems to collect a lot more around the area as well...

seems like they only touched up the place they saw originally instead of inspecting the entire bumper...

guess its time to bring it back again... which is a pain b/c it took them a few days to fix it...
