Need help removing strut top nut!!

I need help with taking off the nut on my front shocks! The nut in the center won't come off because the rod spins with it. Am I doing something wrong!? Do I need a specific tool to take it off?? HELP ME!

Impact gun is the only way. You can usually rent one from the local autoparts store.

You can do it with a breaker bar you just have to reassemble the strut....+1 for learning this the hard way as well LOL

Pretty sure the piston still turns. Might be a difference between Evo and Lancer struts?

If you happen to have one of those rubber strap Craftmen wrenches, you could try wrapping that around the strut piston and torque on the top nut. But impact gun will take less than a sec to get that off. Hell, the first time I actually took my two front struts w/ springs into the Sears garage. They zipped it off in a second...helps that you know someone there though.
