Unhappy Headlight Out?!

My drivers side headlight is out. I bought some "Hyper White" ones and I dont think the bulbs burned out because the high beams do come on but when I put the regular lights back on the drivers side one is still out. It isnt the fuses either cause I switched them and the same thing happens with a new fuse. What could it be? I bought the lights about 3 weeks ago.

well, this guy i bought my new head lights said that some head lights run too high wattage and damage the actual wiring. You might wanna swing that bad boy to the dealer and see if they can fix it under warrenty. Remember to put the originals in.

same thing happend in my eclipse, it was the fixture itself, had to replace the entire headlamp. i had it checked out by the mitsu dealer and a private electrical guy. nothing i could do, so i just bought projector headlamps and everything worked fine. being that there are nothing but stock headlamps out there for the lancer, go to the dealer with the stock bulbs in there and see what happens.

my pops also suggested that maybe you touched the headlight and burned it out like that? You might want to switch the lamp to the other one that might work.

nonono,

this is how it works. For people like us with our US es/ls/oz lancers we have no seperate lights for highbeams which sux I hate it...but anyways we are forced to used double filament headlights like that of say our tailights.

Most likely ur problem is their. The high beam comes on but the low beam does not because ur low beam filament is blown however the lesser use high beam is not. I have had this many times usually low beams always go out first.

Check that and it should be the problem.

PS
Allways an easy way to check a problem is to switch the working and non working. I.E. take the passenger headlight and stick it in the driver side, this will tell u if it is the driver side bulb itself or soemthing within the wire or harness : D

he said he already switched the headlights with the old ones that were working to begin with. and the low beam going out is the obvious problem. I had the same problem.

The entire headlamp is probably blown out. If you check the filament on the bulbs and both are still intact, there is your issue.

I'm really not sure if the dealer would replace it for you for free. Stock bulbs will never fry the stock wiring, because 65 W is as high as it goes when under high beam. They know only aftermarket can fry the wires, because most aftermarket hyperwhites uses 75 or 85 watts when under low beam, and even higher under high beam. You might be able to get lucky, but don't expect too much.

I just had the same problem last week. It's not a wiring issue, or electrical problem niether. They just burn out sometimes. I have the Hyper Whites installed as well. The low beam doesn't work, but when you turn the high beams on they work. It is a filament problem. Just get new ones, and it works fine again. Also be careful when changing them not to touch the actual bulb. They will either not work, or ware out very quickly.
