I engine break all the time, in theory the pully system of the CVT will keep the torque pressure on the hydrolics within normal specs.

Saves your brakes big time And when you have a nice exhaust, the sound is nice inside the cabin, the car purs

i wouldn't noe i was talking about 5speed. i rather spend petty cash on break pads then spend a fortune on a tranny or engine.

so far so good. went on the highway 4x now. No problem with the rpms. rev's properly now (atleast with my previous experience with manuals and other cars). I think this might solve the problem...

Yeah, I've had that problem too, even when just driving from point A to point B, and shifting right about 3K. Especially on the 1-2 shift, with the big change in gear ratios it makes for a nice buck.

It also seems, as I read above as well, to be extremely bad when I get off of the highway, it just sits at 2500-3K when I stop. And also, to agree with yet another poster above, I've always used compression braking, and I've had this car actually pick up speed when downshifting...about plowed into someone the first time it happened.

that's good news but remember to let us know when the 'happy engine' stays high in the range like it shouldn't. If you no longer experience the high-revs anymore, i will go straight to my dealer and tell them to look into replacing my throttle body. But if you still 'occasionaly' experience it (even with the new throttle body) i won't bother replacing it.

Well , I got to drive the car in the snow for the first time .. The revs hanging like they do is definatly not a good thing on a slick surface. You go to downshift and the damn car just wants to keep going as it's sliding. If thats not dangerous I don't know what is !!!
Dipping the clutch is the only way to get it back under control. Can't wait to come down the mountain from snow boarding where you're actualy supposed to use engine braking...

I'm going to take the car in for service and maybe another ***** sesion...

just wanted to say it snowed here in ontario and I noticed a HUGE difference with this new throttle body. the responsiveness and predictability of the rpms is much more on par to what i'm used to in cars with stick.

Do you know what the difference is between the new throttle body and the old one ? That would be great if that's the fix and the dealer will go for it.

hello, wanted to update everyone on my lancer so far. i have put 2000+ km's on the car with the new throttle body. definitely a better feel over all. I have yet to experience the high rev's after coming off the highway. in fact, the car feels a lot safer to drive now when down shifting.
