I've seen a handful, but not a ton. Also, this isn't a MAJOR problem. All cars squeak and rattle at times. Tint getting ruined, the radio not working, etc. are problems. Squeaks are just annoyances.

The only two issues that I have noticed with my 2008 ES CVT are:
1. The cranking issue. It happens on occasion and I have to switch of the ignition and then start again.
2. I have an awful rattle when I turn up the stereo in the driver side centre pillar. It is right at ear level which is absolutely horrible when trying to listen to music.
Has anyone been successful in having either of these problems resolved by the dealer?

Oh yeah, one other issue that I forgot about. My trunk will not latch if I don't hold it directly in the centre when shutting it.

i have a GTS, and i have the cranking issue as well, it doesn't happen often but it happens probably once a month...

also i hate the all season tires.. i really need to change them ASAP!! cuz they are the worst tires ive ever had before... back when it was cold, i reversed into the ally, and the ally was all icey, and i got stuck because the car wouldn't move on the ice.. ive never had that problem before in my life. if there was a incline in the ally, i would have probably slid down and hit something, it was THAT BAD... but when i drive with my celica with summer tires in the exact same place, i get wayy wayy wayyyy more traction then the stock tires that came with the lancer... very bad

I hate rattles... who doesnt. And as someone already said, there is a big rattle coming from the plastic just behind the back head rests. It rattles against the back windshield/window (whatever its called).

I took some foam and tried to jam it there in order to silence it but its really not accessible, hands just cant get there. any ideas? is there a way to remove it?

thx

Alex GTS, this is going to sound very unorthodox (sp?) but i put napkin paper under it. Through the holes from under it. Pop your trunk and stuff it tight. ppl won't see it and the rattle is gone. The trunk is still crazy but hey if you can't hear it why does it matter?

So my issue is that i hear this high pitched sound from my speakers once in a while... wth is that?! do the stock speakers really suck that bad?!

When do you have this? Radio, CD, iPod, etc? What volume? We need details...

Just a curious question about this issue.

I signed off on my new '08 Lancer this past weekend, and had the dealer do the tint for me this week before I pick it up this saturday. They are apparantly sending it to Ziebart to have it done.

My question would be, if the dealer is installing it and looking after that, would they be responsible for any "warranty claims" due to windows getting scratched?

I mean, I understand if you went and did it on your own, but if the dealer is taking care of that, wouldn't they be on the hook for this issue??

I ordered my pads from tintprotector too, I just may not get them in time for the dealer to install them when I take delivery.

You need to ask the dealership. I have no clue what their policy on this is... If you can get them the pads to install at the same time, it should help a lot, though.

problem with refueling

I used to have a problem that others have mentioned on this forum: when fueling the gas pump was clicking (shutting down) too early leaving the tank a few gallons empty if not noticed. I said no big deal, I'll just pump some more.

Today it happened the exact opposite: I set the gas pump on the lower flow as usual and let it do its job while I was cleaning my windows. I hear a pouring sound which first I ignore, but then when I look at the pump, gas was rushing out of the tank like crazy, going down on my fender and wheel in a big puddle. First time it ever happened in my life and it pissed me off. I have never dropped a drop of gas outside the tank before.

Now I don't know if it was the pump or the car ... but it wasn't nice

The overfueling is sounds like the pump was faulty. That auto shut off feature is only through the pump from what I know. I think it detects it based on pressure or air flow or something. I wouldn't say there are any problems with your car. Just pay attention to the pump cuz there are thousands of people using that thing everyday, and not everyone treats it as nicely as they should.

The felt from Tint Protector also stops the rattles and squeaks. I also use it to line the hard plastic bins in the car.

Just recently i've had the "starting issue". While actually when i drive it she starts right up. My wife when she takes the car to work i get a huge ear full of how the car doesn't start and she has to crank it 3-4 times before it starts.. I left the car at the dealership and they can't imitate the problem because it starts right up. That's under warranty right so i don't have to pay for this??

should be, but iv havnt seen a true solution to the problem on here. i havnt had that problem in probably a year now. but when i did, the quick fix i found to work is to tap on the accelerator a bit and it turned right over.

I have the same starting issue, every once and awhile. But it never fails that the 3rd try is the charm to turn her over. I mentioned to the dealer, but like someone else mentioned it started right up the 1st time.
