I'm guessing its a security feature..though I dont know for sure. I dont think the lancers have a theft protection stock radio, but I'm not sure on the 06 lancer.

My Fiance's Eclipse did the same thing, beacuase it had the theft protection, in which case you have to get a code from the dealership to put it back in.

i spoke to a tech at the dealer over the phone and he said something about when you unplug things like the radio it can mess up the cars computer!! but i have dont that alot and nothing ever happened, i also thought it was the theft feature but why would that mess up the center lock and clock??

try un plugging your battery and waiting a few minutes then plug it back up and see if its still messed up...If it's still messed up your probably knocked a ground loose or you got some wires touching that arent supposed to be.

i tried all the fuses in the car and under the hood, all of them are fine, disconnected the batter twice and waited for 10 minutes each time, and still doing the same thing, and there are no wires that are connected to anything, its just the stock harness connected to the stock headunit and no other wires are connected to anything else, i have a appointment to take the car in tomorrow to the dealer but i would rather not because they said it is not a warranty issue and just the diagnostic test would be between 40 and 90 dollars!!!!!!

try plugging the dvd player back up and see if it all works then....if it all works then unplug the battery then uninstall the dvd player then install the factory radio then connect the battery.

I know the center clock on the Eclipse i pulled the stereo from didn't work right because it was waiting for the code to be entered to install the stock radio (it used the clock lcd for the display, since the stereo didnt have much of one). If the dvd player works in it, but not the stock stereo that leads me to beleive the stock radio has anti-theft. I wouldn't take it in to the dealership because if it is anti-theft you would just be getting raped for them to enter in some simple code. Wait with this thread up for a few days, im sure someone else has encountered the same problem. The stereo in the eclipse was very similar to a lancers so its possible it does have anti theft, and that to me is the only thing that makes sense in this situation.

What do you mean by center lock?

Bet you $10 it's the 10A fuse in the engine bay in the yellow surround piece. Trust me! Pull up on the yellow surround piece, then pull out the fuse using neddlenose pliers.

Whether it looks blown or not, replace it!
