front strut causing vibration noise

i have a lancer 2002. the pictures of it can be found at http://photos.yahoo.com/bloodknight51 without the strut bar installed.

recently i bought a front strut bar from ebay and i installed it. the installation was quick and easy and i made sure that all the bolts were tight but when i started driving the car, it seemed like the strut bar was vibrating against something. the vibration seemed to come when i was in first gear but stopped as i started cruising along. im not sure what it is and i was wondering if u guys can give me any feedback. the strut bar i bought looks exactly like the one on the link below.

btw i got my lancer about 3 weeks ago and i am enjoying the hell out of it.

hey bloodknight51 the bar is most likely touching the gold coloured vacum can the is for you cruise control, it attached to the front of your throttle body. just left of you intake pipe the black one.

well i have looked under the hood and it seems to be a lil black box. if u look at my engine pictures at the link i posted in the first post, i think that u can see the black box under where the strut bar would be. and if it is hitting it, what should i do? is it safe to put a little piece of foam or rubber between the bar and the box?

and i have also checked to see if the bar is correct or ont. i looked at the ebay ad again and it seems it is made for the 02-03 lancer. i have emailed the people who sold it to me as well but i have not gotten a response yet.

more feed back would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

That looks similar to the bar on my brother's Civic. Did you get the bar to actually go onto the car? If so, that is a start. It is adjustable, right? My brother had a problem with his being blocked by the air filter box. Since it is adjustable, we just loosened the turnbuckles (bolt sections) and tilted the bar forward to clear the filter. However, we recently discovered that the clip for the filter enclosure vibrated against the bar over the past 8 months, grinding a little notch into it. So it's not the highest performance bar on the market, but if you can tilt it out of the way of whatever it's hitting, it will still serve a purpose.
