I was thinking of doing this bacuase I'm tired of a little light flashing. The CEL eliminator is not working out for me. So I ran into this. Let me know if this is legit.

"For those that have an OBD-II ECU and choose to run only (1) O2 sensor, here is how to eliminate the CE light: Locate both the primary O2 and secondary O2 input signal wires at the ECU. Cut the secondary one in half about 6 inches away from the ECU plug. Strip back some wire shielding from the primary O2 signal wire (be very careful NOT to damage the small wire strands inside). Connect one end of a 1/2v 10k ohm resistor to this wire ("T" this to the primary O2 signal wire, do not cut) and the other end to the ECU side of the secondary signal wire. As for the foil part... it no longer sends any input signals to the ECU, so I don't believe it matters what you wrap it in. You may even be able to unplug it."

 

i dunno if you wanna chance it...tampering with the ecu can be bad if messed up....i would try the anti fowler trick...i've seen this work better than the RRM CEL eliminator since the O2 sits a bit further away than the RRM one....im gonna put mine on this weekend so ill let you know how it works!!!!!

plus its 1/4 of the cost than the RRM eliminator

 

why not just have it tuned to ignore the reading from the 2nd sensor or set it to be constantly sending X voltage. i wouldn't be going all hack-n-slash on your ECU. alternatively, have you tried an electrical fix that you splice into the O2 sensor wiring? the right one of these is very effective and will solve your problem.

i completely rounded off my O2 sensor and so i had to go this route and it has worked very well for me. unfortunately the place i ordered from isn't around anymore, but it's easy to find an eliminator--it's just a string of resistors and capacitors. i WAS just going to make one myself but said screw it because i couldn't find a parts list that sounded correct.

 

Considering the ECU uses both O2 sensors for fuel input I wouldn't suggest it. And considering you're tuning with a piggyback, I REALLY wouldn't suggest it. Also, I don't understand how people have problems with CEL eliminators. I haven't seen a check engine light on my car since I put a CEL eliminator on. I didn't see one when I had my RRM header and I haven't seen one with my turbo kit. However, if I do want to see my CEL, all I have to do is disconnect my O2 harness. LOL

And, talking about what you are using is something similar to what
www.3sx.com sells and you still need O2 read out but no cel.

There is also a thread here somewhere on EvoM. All you're doing is backing the O2 sensor out of the exhaust stream and then you won't throw a "slow responding sensor" code. This is exactly what I did on my Lancer and my brother's 350z and neither of us have seen a check engine light with our test pipes.

 

This is what I have, exactly same thing, didn't help. But it did help my brother on his eclipse.

 

maybe your o2 is bad.....

 

did you use two non-foulers just like in that guide that was posted? two should get the sensor far enough out of the stream.

 

What is the code you're throwing exactly? You might have a bad O2 like he said. Since you were running extremely rich you may have fouled the sensor.

 

Ok:
1) I will be extending my secondary O2 sensor wires; which gauge of wire do I need, 14 or 16?
2) My secondary O2 won't be far away from first O2 because my exhaust will be going to the side of my bumper; right before the front wheel.
3) Maybe my O2 sensor is bad (will have to look into it); also universal O2 sensor wires are black, gray, white and white. How should I know which white wire goes to which wire?

Yeap that's what I did.

 

the universal sensor should come with a manual that will say what wires get connected to what wires on your harness.

 

When my bro purchased his (universal bosch), it didn't come with any instructions.
He had to play with the cables.
