check engine light... code PO135

hey guys like a month ago i put on a short ram intake... (filter and maf adapter) and then like couple weeks later or so the check engine light went on.... i thought it was because of intake so i unplug battery and reset ecu.... later on the light went on again so i went to advanced auto parts and scanned it... turns out to be the code
PO135 O2 Sensor Heater
Circuit Malfunction
(Bank 1 Sensor 1)

Now im guessing this is just a coincidence with the intake because i dont see how they are connected... um would the dealer fix this under the emission warranty or will i have to buy a o2 sensor and do it my self... also could i just buy a universal one or does it have to be lancer specific..

sometimes i feel like selling this damn car... cuz the a/c dont work either... and my slave cylinder is failing i think...

No it's on you to replace it. $50 and 5 minutes.

I believe mcgarvey is right. The manufacturer is responsible for the emissions system (exhaust). But the sensors don't effect or control the emissions, just read the emissions. So you fix the sensor, but if you fail a smog check or get a CEL for the cat, than it should be on the manufacturer.

ok so i will replace it but im thinkin why did it fail... does it have anything to do with my intake or is it just a huge coincidence... also if i dont replace the sensor right away will it mess up anything or is it just an annoying CEL...

would this be good enough... splicing the wires would be easy... i would solder em and heat wrap but would this be good enough or would it only last for a short time since they are not oem... i really dont feel like spending close to 100 bucks for this... i got other things to fix on the car....
