problem with tranny ( taking to dealer)
problem with tranny ( taking to dealer)
Hey all, I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem and if so, how was it fixed / what ya think is wrong. I have a 2002 OZ Lancer with about 30000 miles on it, anyway me and a bud recently noticed that between:
2nd and 3rd it shifts really hard and then
between 3rd and 4th it hesitates to shift.
Yesterday gettin almost to 6 grand(red line) before shifting. I'm not a big mechanic guy so I have no clue. I know it's somethin to do with the tranny but other then that I have no clue. I have a 100,000 mi warranty so i'm not to worried, just wanted some peoples thoughts.
EDIT: Thought it may be usefull to know that I have an Automatic Tranny.

As for the last shifts, it's not when I'm "getting on it" I know that would cause it to shift late, it's when I'm just cruising normal, and I the hard shift only started recently it was fine when it was new, and I don't hit the gas to make it shift.. Just shifts hard, like if you had a stick and u put shift and pull of the clutch to early.. the "clunk" it makes....
try changing the transmission fluid, mine did this as well, really hard shift between 2nd and 3rd. You need to do two things, Let the car warm up, start the car and let it sit at least a min. in the summer and so on or else it will shift hard until it warms up.
And check the transfluid, sadly after 20,000 miles you got to change the fluid as the motors burn through it, that's the problem with 4 cyl engines, too much power not enough size.
