A blue crayon...my life is hell now.

Heres the deal...my cute adorable little neice left a blue crayon in the back seat of my lancer. I live in Texas. My car is black. The little blue stick of wax melted into the fabric of the back seat. I managed to get out most of the solid chunks but some of its still melted into the fabric. Anybody got any tips for exorcising the rest of this blue demon? Any products, home remedies, etc -- I'd appreciate any help I could get. Damn, if my little neice wasn't so precious, I swear, I'd toss her into the ceiling fan.

i have twins andthey did the same thing to my x-wifes van....try using baking soda and vinegar...it has some kinda reaction and foams up....supposed to be good with crayon stains, otherwise try to heat the spot up and then wipe it off.

ouch! i'd throw anything to the ceiling fan if they do as much as spill tea on my car... anyways steamers did pretty good for me when i had to get stains outta my car... usually coffee stains and all... you know those steamers u get at kmart or target for ironing clothes... they fade out the stain, and in ur case the steam's heat could melt the crayon... but then i'm guess it jsut sinks it deeper into the fabric, but hey, if you cant see it, its clean!

Thanks for the tips. Hope I didn't turn the forums into Martha Stewart's Living too bad.

Try ironing it with on a low heat steam setting. Works on carpet. Wipe off whatever comes out. (Dorm life was great)

EDIT: My other solution was to melt blue crayons all over the rest of your interior.

We try.

Seriously though, at least one of those methods should work. One or two may be cleaner than the others. Good luck!

try placing a piece of corse fabric like a towel over the mess, then use an iron on low-medium setting and iron over it making sure not to burn the upholestry. the majority of the crayon should come up and transfer to the towel. for the left over wax, there's companies that make spot remover that should take care of the rest. MAKE SURE TO TEST ALL SPOT REMOVERS IN AN INCONSPICUOUS AREA FIRST.

hopefully this helps...Good Luck

I'll make no claims as to the effectiveness of my method, and I think more's cloth/towel idea would make the iron thing complete. As long as you get the crayon out, I don't care how ya do it. I hear your Lancer's upholstery wailing in agony every night when I'm trying to slee--oh wait...nevermind. Musta left the TV on.

Good luck!
