hard starting...
and no, im not talking about it cranking and not starting, which it still does even after taking it to the dealer 3 times with TSB's and everything, no im talking about it actually starting hard. yesterday was cold, but no where near as cold as it has been since ive had this car, it was about 20ºF, so i go to start the car, and its making this loud thumping, as if i tried starting it without a motor mount, or as if the spark plugs were switched in the wrong holes, so then it started but it was real rough, and struggled to make it to idle, then it seemed fine. then today, it started fine the first time, then the second time, about 90 minutes later, it started, but felt like a grinding feeling once it turned over for a few seconds... im so sick of this car.
then the suspension sounds so terrible, as if its ready to just fall apart everytime i hit a bump...
then theres is annoying sound/feeling when i turn the steering wheel...
then it feels like i need brakes at not even 6000 miles, i feel this pulsating/scraping feeling when slowing down...
anyone have any input?

Wow you have a bunch of problems. First of all did it start roughly just that time or does it happen many times? Do you have the right viscosity oil? Any modifications?
My rear suspension used to make a noise when going over speed bumps but it doesn't do it anymore. About the steering wheel it can be the control arm bushings or something similar. Does it make noises when you turn the wheel at low speeds?
The pulsating feeling from the brakes usually means warped rotors (different thickness at different places) you can either have them shaved or get new ones. That's what I can think of. Anyway looks like it's time to go to the dealer.

as for the oil, im not sure, i just take it to the dealer and have them do the oil changes, and its bone stock, no mods at all...
as for the steering, it seems like it does it more often at low-speeds, or is more noticable at low speeds, could it be tire related? i have run flats on there...
hmm, i didnt even think about the rotors, but how would they be warped already? im not a hard braker, and use the paddle shifters a lot to drop gears to slow the car down rather than braking, in order to save the brakes...
and i would take it to the dealer, but its always at THEIR convience, never mine. i practically have to bed and kiss their toes to get a loaner car until mine is done...
The brakes could just be residue build up. On some clear road you can try doing a few hard stops in a row and it should clear any residue. If it continues, I would agree that its a warped rotor.
Uhhh Lemon Laws? Something sounds seriously wrong with that car. To only have 6000 on it and for all the stuff thats going wrong, i'd tell them they have 3 choices, Either replace your car, Refund what you paid for the car or, Have a lawyer get involved
i have all the same issues with my lancer. the hard starts i have all the times cold or hot weather, just happend to me last nite. dealership wont do anything about it.
the car feeling like its falling apart over bumps and things i changed my springs and it helped so i suggest that or coilovers and a strut bar.
turning the steering wheel ive already gone through this lol dealership has said its the cold. but its not. i believe it to be a combination of things but it kinda went away when i changed the springs. the brakes are just horrible on our cars. my breaks work when they want to. im looking to replace the pads or even the whole braking system soon. ive been to the stealership for the hard starts and creaking noises and it has been a waste of time. just a heads up

I just do what another Member suggested, "Just turn that fosegate stereo up to drown out the noise" haha
Seriously though, I know what your saying about the hard start problem. I as well have been to the dealer manytimes over this (more than 3) and still it happens. I never just take it in after 1 time of hard starting, I wait till it happens 2 or 3 times.
When they Reprogramed my cars computer, it seemed to help in the cars overall performance. Sadly it lasted a day or 2.
Yeah i'm just about finished with this car, to many issues for a 1 year old car that i've experienced since day 1. I'm either waiting till I'm able to flop the car, or the lease ends (yes yes thank god for leases, in this case)
Just an utter disapointing experiance

when was the last oil change? If you have a lot of short trips it could be full of fuel and causing a rich condition, especially with those temps.

I think its a state-by-state issue, though i know in illinois the law is that they have 3 times to fix the problem, then the 4th time is when the lemon law comes into play.HOWEVER, this has to be within a 12 month time period/ 1 year..... Found this out the hard way...............
