so numerous accounts of RRM header having problems, its awesome that they send out a new product to replace their defective ones but its still crappy that they are having all these problems, especially for those who cant install a header themselves and have to pay a shop to do it...

still waiting for another company to produce a header or atleast a more reliable one from RRM im sure they can make a better one

I took my headers to a machine shop and had the small hole welded over. It cost me $12. Lancer0220, RRM's is reliable. You should get one.

if all it took was $12 to fix i dont see why RRM doesnt just make the product better to begin with , i mean its not like the header is a cheaply priced one from ebay. its up there and the quality should be too. I dont want to argue about RRM, they have good products and service its just some of there stuff is over priced but they can charge what they want since not many people do what they do.

Although I agree with you, their prices are pretty high, but it's called "smart business", see it from a business standpoint. If you made CAIs and people are willing to pay $500 for it, rather than $300, you'd sell it for $500 wouldnt you?

^^ How about the fact that they are the only company that has put a decent amount of focus on our cars. RRM is a good company that makes good parts. Nobody there has claimed PERFECTION.

by that i mean that not many companies have put much effort into the 08+ lancers as RRM has.

I have said this before.. RRM is a great company. The problem is not with the RRM header directly. But there is a secondary issue causing most of these failures.

The 4B11 and 4B12 engines suffer from a severe TQ jump. The shock of that gets transfered to the header and since the weakest part is the flex pipe, it will fail over time due to too much flexing. Better Motor mounts and a TQ dampner that I am providing specs for, should reduce the risk of failure and have other benefits.

So if you have motor mounts/torque dampeners, the RRM headers won't have that known issue?

crc is right they are overpriced but then again they're the only ones mostly selling performance parts for our vehicle. I guess another company needs to step up to compete with RRM to force them to lower their price.

Back to the topic, I was planning on getting the headers but still waiting for issues like this, now I made up my mind LOL

So the hole in the weld of my RRM headers were fixed, $12, and my code P0171 came back. Turns out the problem was that 2 of my spark plugs had gaps that were closed up. Everything is great now and my car is running great.

How difficult are the motor mounts to install? Is RRM's offering the best on them for $179 + S&H?
