Throttle hesitation in 1st gear (CVT)

I've got a 2009 Lancer GTS (almost a year now), and I've had a problem that is nearly impossible for me to force duplicate, but it happens often enough.

This only happens from a stop, when in manual mode.

I will start to take off from a light with light pedal press, then will push more (even floored), and the car thinks I have not moved the throttle at all and will do absolutely nothing except continue at the pace which I started. Lettign up on the throttle and flooring again usually helps, but I also had another time where I just reached over and put it back into D (auto mode), and immediately the throttle responds again.

One time I was at a really busy left turn light, and started to take off, and couldn't keep up with the car in front of me and I was killing everyone behind me. Even got honked at once!

This has happened probably 10 times in the last year since I got the car First tiem was only a few days after purchase. I've done some searching, but never seen anyone else with the same problem. Any ideas?
